2013 - Mar 05 Everglades City and Fakahatchee Strand Preserve

We got a great start on the day. We got up and showered at 7:00, ate breakfast, and then Marsha said she wasn't feeling well. So what else could I do but lie down and take a nap! We finally got moving again and headed for Everglades City at about 11:00, stopping for gas and ice on the way.

After lunch at the Havana Cafe, we drove around a bit, then headed back toward camp. There was a place along the road, where a bunch of cars were parked, that we had seen on our way to the park yesterday. We stopped and found that it was the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park which featured the Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk. All of the wildlife pictures below were taken there.

The dredge is on display in Collier Seminole SP, just outside the campground. Pretty interesting how that thing worked.

It's only about 5:30 now, but I have to start a fire to cook dinner (brats), then go to town to post the last three days worth of stuff.

Tomorrow should be interesting. We're going to Shark Valley in Everglades National Park.
