On this trip, we went to two campgrounds in Kentucky. First was a Gathering of Aframes at KenLake State Resort Park in Aurora, KY. After eight nights there, we moved about 15 miles to Energy Lake Campground to join another group of friends and watch the eclipse. We were right on the path for totality. Hope you enjoy the pics.
Our days at KenLake were hot and muggy. We ate at Cindy's restaurant at the KenLake Marina, which is on a permanently anchored barge, three times just to sit in the air conditioning. The food was good, too!
In the Land Between the Lakes, we visited the Planetarium and the Woodlands Nature Station, a nature preserve where we drove among the bison and saw some elk.
While we were at Energy Lake, Jim & Jan, our friends from Addison, IL, got to KenLake and camped there because Energy Lake was full. So we drove back over there and visited with them on Sunday evening before they joined us at Energy Lake on Monday to watch the eclipse.
I cut up a pair of eclipse glasses and stuck one of the lenses onto my camera with Fun-Tac. I think it worked pretty well, but you be the judge when you look at the pics.
