2016 Jun 05-07 - Relaxing along the river in Madison, IN City Campground

We left the Dayton KOA on June 5, but the rally at My Old Kentucky Home State Park doesn't start until June 8, so we decided to relax for a few days along the Ohio River in Madison, IN. We've been to Clifty Falls State Park here, but never stayed in the city campground. It came highly recommended, so we decided to check it out.

We didn't do much here. We went to Walmart to buy some groceries and did laundry a couple of miles down the street from there. We just relaxed and watched the barges go up and down the river.

2016 Jun 02-05 - Central Great Lakes Region Aliner Owners Club Rally at Dayton KOA

Because I'm parsimonious, KOAs are not my favorite places to camp. This one was $54.00 per night with no free breakfast! Firewood was extra and none can be brought in from outside the park. Coffee was extra. Golf carts rented for $18.99 per hour! Wonder if Hertz rents golf carts! But, at least the showers were clean and I didn't have to put quarters in them!

Seriously, it was a great facility, with about 30 Aliner Owners Club (AOC) households in attendance. Scott and Gail did a great job organizing the event. We arrived on Thursday and enjoyed the evening. Friday's weather was perfect, but we got quite a bit of rain on Saturday so it turned out to be a great day for us to go to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Museum. It had been about 30 years since Marsha and I were there last. There is a fourth hangar opening on June 8, so well have to go back and check it out.
