It's becoming a tradition. A week before Thanksgiving, Mark and a few friends go down to his house on Lake of the Ozarks and blow the leaves down the hill and start a big fire. A few other chores usually get done, too. This year it was Mark and me from Springfield, Mike from Morris, IL, and Kevin from Kansas City, MO.
We got down there late Thursday afternoon and emptied most of the stuff out of the old shed to get it ready for the delivery of the new shed in the morning. The rest of the evening, we just sat around, drank beer and ate snacks.
Friday morning, it was in the twenties with rain in the forecast when we took the remaining stuff out of the shed. The new shed showed up at about 10:00 and the show began. Those folks had done this before! With the new shed in position and all the stuff put into its new home, we headed for the grocery store to replenish our beer supply. Then it was on to the Branding Iron bar and grill for an early dinner. We got back to the house early and snoozed in front of the TV before going to bed.
We decided to wait until Saturday to blow leaves. The temperature was still freezing, but there was no rain in the forecast. While Mark and I blew leaves, Mike and Kevin replaced the old mercury vapor security light fixture that was about 20 feet up on the power pole near the front of the house. We forgot to get pictures of that, except after it was finished. Didn't get any pictures of us actually blowing the leaves with our matching Stihl BR550 backpack blowers either.
As you can see from the pictures, we blew most of the leaves into the lake, but still had enough left for a pretty good fire. While the fire was putting out heat, we stood outside and drank a few beers, but when the fire died down, we headed inside. Mark got a new flat screen TV, so we took a few minutes to hang it on the wall so we could enjoy it for the rest of the day.
No pictures of them, but while we were at the grocery store on Friday, Kevin bought two racks of pre-cooked ribs. He heated them up Saturday afternoon after all our chores were done and we scarfed them down. They were delicious! I liked them so well that Marsha and I are going to have some for our Thanksgiving dinner.
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving and a glorious holiday season. Marsha and I are continually counting our blessings.

2013 - Aug 18 Indianapolis Red Bull Moto GP Race
Chad and I left his house at 7:00am and got to Indy a little before 11:00. We hooked up with my brother, Scot, who had ridden his bike from Columbus, OH to see the race.
The pictures tell the story. The weather was great and it was great for the three of us to be together for the day.
Events like this kind of get the old juices stirring again, but I think it would be better if I just stick too camping!

2013 - Aug 6 Drove to Sheldon's house in Akron
We had a day to kill before showing up at the Big Little Rally in Transfer, PA, so we stopped in to see my nephew, Sheldon, whom we hadn't seen in nine years. He just moved into a new (built in the 1940s) house and was in the middle of renovations, but we had a great visit and enjoyed sleeping in a bedroom with its own bathroom.
We went out to dinner and sat around and caught up on all the news we had to share. Sheldon was up and gone to the hospital (he's a veterinary surgeon) before we got up Wednesday morning. We ate our breakfast in the camper and hit the road about 9:30.
