Breakfast was at 8:30, so about 7:15, we headed for the pavilion in the rain. We plugged in two electric skillets and a crock pot and started breaking eggs. I had just finished scrambling the four dozen eggs we bought yesterday, when Mark showed up with a box of sausage patties, so he took over the cooking chores.
It was 8:34 and still raining when we started eating. In addition to the eggs and sausage, there was oatmeal, fresh fruit, coffee cake, breakfast casserole, grits, donuts and more. I think everyone ate their fill.
After breakfast we sat around and visited for a while before going back to camp and washing our skillet and dishes. Even though it was still raining, we decided to check out the Nature Center and Cane Creek Falls & Cascade. After that, we drove over to the Inn to check email. Nothing exciting, so it was back to camp.
By the time we got back, most of the Aliners had left even though they had planned to stay until tomorrow. It's supposed to rain all weekend and most of them only live two or three hours away, so they headed out. Since Marsha and I have a 500 mile drive to get home, we would probably have to stop somewhere tonight if we left so late in the day. That would mean we'd have to set up and tear down again, so even though it doesn't take long to set up and tear down, we decided to stay the night, get an early start in the morning and do the 500 miles all in one shot.
About 6:30, the rain paused for a few minutes, so we took down the canopy. Tomorrow will be solid driving, so I probably won't take any pictures unless something exciting happens. Let's hope this is my last post for this trip!

2013 - April 26 Official 1st Day of the AOC South Central Region Rally
The guy Mike found who said he would split the wood that Clark and I harvested yesterday never showed up, so that was my first chore of the day. Then Mike and a few helpers, including me, loaded the wood into the back of his Jeep and moved it over to John & Amy's site where the wiener roast would be held tonight.
Even though we were assigned to bring a dish only for the weiner roast, I volunteered to scramble eggs for tomorrows breakfast if the AOC would buy the eggs. After getting the OK from Mike, the Regional Director, Marsha and I went to the park's General Store and bought four dozen eggs, a half gallon of milk and a bag of ice. We put all of the above into our cooler bag to stay cool until tomorrow's breakfast.
Unfortunately, the wood I split was slightly damp, so we had to work all afternoon to get a good fire going. By piling extra wood on the fire, it had a chance to dry out and start burning before the existing fire burned out. So, by five o'clock, we had a nice fire and there was no problem roasting dogs.
It started spitting rain shortly after we ate, so the crowd started thinning out. There were some who stayed at the fire and shot the breeze until about 9:30. Soon it was raining steadily, so I went back to the camper and drifted off to sleep while listening to the rain on the roof.
Not a lot of pictures today. I'll try to do better.

2013 - April 24 & 25 Arrival and Day 1 at Fall Creek Falls State Park, TN
4/24:
We left Big Bone Lick at about 9:30 and drove 305 miles in the rain to arrive at Fall Creel Falls State Park, TN at about 3:30. It was still drizzling rain and getting colder by the time we got set up, so we had a nice hot bowl of soup and a sandwich before settling in for the night.
4/25:
Clark, the camp host offered to cut some wood foe our group's weiner roast, si he and I went into the woods. He cut and I stacked the wood into the back of his four-wheeler. After we dumped the wood off at our campsite, he offered his splitting maul so that I could split some of the logs. As of this writing (9:20pm), I'm still trying to find someone to use the maul.
We have intermittent phone service at the campground, but I walked to the top of a hill and got enough of a signal to get a voice message. We went to the Inn where they are closer to a cell tower and returned the call. After that, one thing lead to another and we ended up spending the afternoon driving around the park and taking in a few sights.
When we pulled over at Caplenor Point, there were a couple of trucks and a backhoe on a trailer. When we got out of the car, Larry Wells, President of Wireless Properties came up and informed us that ours was the first vehicle to use the new pull-off area that they had just finished building. He took our picture and our names to use in some advertising. I'll have to check their website to see if we're famous!
Even though the rally doesn't officially start until tomorrow, there are eleven A-Frames here already. We spent the evening visiting a few old friends and meeting some new ones. It was a nice day!

2013 - April 23 A Day at Big Bone Lick State Park, Union, KY
We got up early this morning to get to Mickey D's in time to make a reservation for eleven months from today at Oscar Scherer State Park in Florida. While we were there, we figured we might as well have breakfast, so we did. Then we went back to the park and hiked around. There is a lot of history here in the park. Very interesting place.
A bit after noon, I realized that I had forgotten to post yesterday's entry on the blog. Marsha had a coupon for a free Premium Wrap, so it was back to Mickey D's for lunch. It's only about seven miles from the park.
When we got back to camp, we did chores like emptying the porta-potti and reading a book. Guess which one I did. Then we took our showers. By that time, it was getting thirsty out, so I had a beer while I played with the new GPS a bit. A fellow camper stopped by for a while for a visit. Then we started a fire and grilled some chicken. After doing the dishes, we took a walk around the campground. That's pretty much it for the day.
Tomorrow, we're headed for Fall Creek Falls State Park (Tennessee), about 300 miles south. Enjoy the pictures.
