2014 April 24 - Aliner Rally at Camp Whitebreast - Coal Ridge, Lake Red Rock, Pella, IA
The rally actually started on Friday, but several of us arrived on Thursday so that we could set up camp in the rain! This rally was put on by the Upper Midwest Region, but Marsha and I often crash their parties since they're our neighboring region to the west.
Fifteen campers arrived and we met some new folks. There were at least two couple who were attending their first rally. These people are known as rally virgins.
Anyway, we pretty much sat around and shot the breeze. Marsha and I went exploring and ended up in the town of Pella, the home of Pella Windows. The weather was really nice on Friday and Saturday, but Saturday night saw clouds moving in thunder started around 10:00.
Sunday morning at 8:00 it was 44 degrees and raining, but we ate breakfast at the pavilion anyway. By 9:30 the temperature had risen into the 50s and the sun came out, so we were able to break camp in fairly comfortable conditions.
We'll be home for a week, then we head for Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, Indiana for three days, then we'll spend a few days at Brown County State Park before heading toward home.
See you there!

2014 April 10 - Gathering of Aframes at Ramsey Lake State Park
Three days after getting home from Florida, we were headed for Ramsey Lake State Park, about 65 miles southeast, to get together with some of our Aliner friends. It was a good weekend with warm spring days and cool nights, with just a little bit of rain.
Friday, we went to Vandalia with Loren and Cindy to tour the Old Statehouse building, Illinois' second and oldest existing capitol building. Kaskaskia was the state's first capitol. Of course, we were back at camp in plenty of time for the potluck dinner.
Saturday, Chad and the grandkids, along with their cousin, Gunner, came to visit us. We enjoyed spending time with them after our long trip to Florida.
I think we'll stay home for a little while now.

2014 April 6 - On the road for home
We were headed out the gate at Sun-N-Fun by 7:30 this morning. I drove 911 miles today. We stopped at 10:00pm and "camped" in a Pilot truck stop in Paducah where we've camped before.
Tomorrow, it will be a short drive of only 239 miles to get home. Good night!

2014 April 5 - Celery Hill and the Sun-N-Fun
This morning, before it got too hot, we drove a couple of miles to Celery Hill, as it's called by the locals. The hill was built from the dirt that was dug out of the old celery fields to make drainage ponds to hold the runoff during the rainy season. If the ponds overflow, they empty into a canal that eventually makes its way into the Gulf of Mexico.
On the way back to Sun-N-Fun, we stopped at Detwiler's Farm Market for ice cream and fruit. That place was really crowded with people. They had a nice selection of fresh fruit, nuts, candy, etc.
The rest of the pics are to give you a look at the pool area at Sun-N-Fun. The osprey nest was outside the park, but I took the picture from one of the tables by the pool.
This is our last day in the park. Tomorrow, we'll get up early and head for home. It's been a great trip!
