We did the usual Gathering stuff. It was great to get-together with all of our aframe friends who could make it to the Gathering. The weather was sunny, cool and crisp. The best (IMHO) for camping, but also telling us that another camping season will soon come to a close. We've got a couple more outings planned for this year before we hole up for the winter, so check back when you can.
We went to the visitor center and checked out the information about the construction of the dam, which was put into service in 1984. Also, near the visitor center, was a Civil War Encampment which we found interesting.
On Saturday, a guest Aliner showed up and Paul McCray introduced himself to me! What a shocker! He was born in St. Louis and, as far as we know, is no relation to me.
John & Jan cooked the brats for the potluck and everyone contributed a dish. As usual, there was way more food than we could eat.
Our friends, Rick & Tammy from Springfield (not Aframers) have been working their tails off since they bought a house trailer and put it on their lot earlier this year. The lot is only a few miles from where we were camped, so even though Rick & Tammy weren't able to be there this weekend, we set out to see if we could find it. It was pretty easy to find. What a nice spot they have! It sits way back off the road and will be a great get-away for them to go to for relaxing vacations. It's less than two hours from Springfield.
