We got up at 0dark:30 this morning to meet the bus at 6:45 for the Road to Hana tour. It's a 120 mile trip, the first 39 miles of which contain over 650 curves in the mountain road. Most of the trip was thru a tropical rain forest section of the island. Following that was an arid section of rock and scrub land, then back down to the coastal area and a more traditional climate. The island is about the size of Connecticut and actually has about 5 different micro-climates in that small area.
I don't remember the names of most of the places we went today, but it was a great trip. Check out the pictures, but of course, they don't do it justice.
See you tomorrow on the Big Island.
