2017-11-22 Drove from Alice Springs to Uluru

On Wednesday, we got on the bus (coach) and drove to Uluru, the Aboriginal name for Ayres Rock. Like Denali (Mt. McKinley) in Alaska, the government has officially renamed it with the name that the indigenous gave it. I took a few pics of the countryside along the way. We stopped for a "splash & dash" (quick potty break) and lunch at a roadhouse out in the middle of nowhere.
There was a quick photo stop out in the bush. While we were there, a pretty good sized road train went roaring by. Man, you don't want to get in their way! They have big "roo bars" across the front and they don't stop for anything!
We went into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and checked out Uluru and Kata Tjuta before checking into the hotel and freshening up.
About 6:30, we left the hotel and went out to an observation area to watch the sun set on Uluru.
A long day, but we saw a lot of the Outback and really enjoyed Uluru - another check-mark on my bucket list.
