2013 - May 20 Day one of AOC North American Rally
We left the campground in Champion, PA this morning at 9:35 and took PA Rt. 31 and 30 to Gettysburg to attend the 13th annual Aliner Owners Club North American Rally. The roads had hairpin curves and severe changes in elevation. At times, we were close to 3,000 feet above sea level. Even with a quick stop for lunch, we made the 138 mile drive in just over four hours.
We arrived at the Gettysburg Campground at 1:45 and got set up in our assigned campsite. We visited a bit, then went to town (2.75 miles) for some supplies before the sub sandwich supper under the big tent behind the recreation hall.
After supper, th colors were presented and Abe gave his Gettysburg Address. Then there was a welcome meeting and a short business meeting before everyone went back to their campers or broke into small groups to visit.
Tomorrow is the first full day of the rally. Stay tuned.
