2016 Aug 10-14 - Land of Lincoln Tear Jerkers rally in Pontiac, IL

Marsha and I showed up at the 4H Park in Pontiac, IL on Wednesday, a day early, for the Land of Lincoln Tear Jerkers rally, thinking that some others would do the same. Wrong! We were all alone on Wednesday night and on Thursday morning, we went into town to check out the Pontiac/Oakland museum before anyone else arrived at the campground.

The museum was very interesting. I didn't know that Pontiac was originally the Oakland Motor Company before Oakland merged with General Motors and became Pontiac a few years later. After we checked out the museum, we took the recommendation of the woman there and walked the three blocks to the Filling Station Restaurant. Good food!

When we got back to the 4H Park, the tear drop trailers had begun to arrive. We ended up with 19 units in attendance. The Tear Jerkers is an international group that promotes the tear drop trailer. It was a fun event. We're already booked for another event in Wisconsin this September.

On Friday, we went back into town and checked out the Bob Waldmire Experience, the War Museum, the Route 66 Hall of Fame Museum and the Walldog Mural Museum. For a town of 12,000 people, Pontiac has a lot of attractions.

Saturday, we stayed at the Park and visited with all the people we met that weekend. There was a breakfast potluck and a dinner potluck that day. It was a good time!
