2015 Apr 22-24 - First 3 days of trip to Colbert, OK for an Aliner Rally

We left the house at bout 10:00 and drove 251 miles to Mark's lake house on the Lake of the Ozarks. We used the house for fixing dinner, bathroom duties, and watching TV since TV reception on our antenna was nonexistent.

We lounged around the dock before dark and just relaxed. Mark's neighbor, Terry stopped in to check out the camper and returned later with some crappie that he had in his freezer. We plan to grill them Sunday night. We got up Thursday morning and drove 435 miles to Colbert, OK to attend an Aliner Rally put on by the South Central Region of the Aliner Owners Club. The campground, River View RV Park is on the banks of the Red River. The riverbank on the other side is in Texas.

Thursday evening, after setting up, we visited with old friends, Bill and Irene, as well as others we hadn't seen in several years. We hit the sack about 10:00pm and I was out like a light! I started raining sometime after midnight and rained pretty much all day on Friday. The large concrete pads in each campsite are beautiful, but I managed to park the camper so that the only low spot is right outside the door, so with all the rain, we have no trouble cleaning our shoes off before entering.

Friday morning at 8:00, there was coffee and conversation in the Rally Room. Someone brought some pulled pork, so we all went back to the campers and got bread, buns, chips, etc. and had pulled pork sandwiches for lunch.

It was back to the rally room for a hot dog dinner and pot luck on Friday evening. While we were up there, a pretty good storm came through. It pulled up the stakes on two of the three awning poles on the camper, one of which it bent in a 'U' shape. Looks like I'm in the market for a new pole.

Oh, well. It's supposed to be sunny and in the mid 80's tomorrow. We're looking forward to that!
