Today, due to the weather forecast, we didn't take the ferry to Cumberland Island. Instead, we checked out the St. Mary's Visitor Center, then spent the afternoon at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge where we took a guided boat trip into the swamp and walked a 3/4 mile boardwalk into the swamp to a lookout tower. It wained all afternoon, but we stayed a lot dryer that we would have on Cumberland Island.
We played tourist in St. Marys, GA. This is the original city charter dated 1784.Always wondered what our car would look like with an official seal on it.
The original Toonerville Trolley, circa 1928. The cartoon was based on this car.
We're headed out into the Okefenokee Swamp with our guide, Joey. He's a 7th generation "swamper." A real good ol' boy and self confessed redneck.
Great Blue Heron in the swamp.
Nothing like a rainstorm in the swamp!
