I really procrastinated in posting this last part of the
Florida trip. I'm just throwing all of the pictures into one post.
Here's a short log of what we did, but the pictures sort of
tell the story.
4/1 – We did laundry in Eastpoint and just passed the time
driving through the country (swamp). I didn't take any pics except at the
laundry.
4/2 – We hiked from the campground to the bay side of the
island, then down to the West Slough. Probably hiked a couple of miles, all
told.
4/3 – We drove into Apalachicola for lunch.
4/4 – We went to the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research
Center. It was pretty cool. Nice exhibits and a good movie told about the area.
Best of all – it was free!
4/5 – We left St. George Island and headed north. We camped at
Henry Horton State Park, south of Nashville that night, but it was so cold and
windy that we just holed up, cooked dinner in the microwave and turned in
early. I didn't even take a pic of our campsite!
4/6 – We arrived at North Sandusky Campground at Rend Lake in southeastern
Illinois. We camped there with some of our Aliner friends. We headed home on
Sunday, the 9th. It was a great trip, but pretty laid back. I guess we're
getting old.
