2013 - Jan 07-Day 4 - Enjoyed the pool and took the City Tour

Marsha is much better today. She ate breakfast, lunch and dinner with no problems. We went swimming and sunning by the pool, then went on a "City Tour" from 3:30 to 7:00. All's well.

Tomorrow will be a big day. We're going on a boat tour of the Nine Bays of Huatulco. I need to get some sleep.

Enjoy today's pictures. More tomorrow if I can stay up after spending five hours on a boat, snorkeling, etc.

2013 - Jan 06-Day 3 - Marsha is Sick Today

After passing out last night, Marsha had a restful night's sleep until this morning when she got up several times to visit the bathroom to cleanse her system from both ends, if you get my drift. I made several trips to the outside world to get her some toast (she ate two bites), Pepto-Bismol, etc. I got myself some lunch, then stayed in the room with her for the rest of the afternoon.

I guess the drippings from several bottles of Sprite that Marsha drank during the day were too tempting for the local insects. They literally came out of the woodwork by the hundreds. Little tiny crawley bugs of some kind. So, after the exterminator with his garden sprayer full of insecticide, and the housekeeping lady who came to clean up after him left, I went out to get some dinner. I brought back some fruit which she ate without incident.

Around 9:30, I went out to have a drink and see what was going on. The pictures pretty well tell the story of our day.

2013 - Jan 05-Day 2-First Full Day at Secrets

We got up about 7:15 and headed for breakfast at 8:00. It was a buffet and we were able to find suitable ingredients for our Bran Bud regimen. We brought a box with us!

After breakfast, we went to the 45 minute orientation meeting where we learned about some of the things that are available at Secrets. After the meeting, we went to Dreams, a sister resort to Secrets about five miles away, to learn about a vacation club program they were trying to sell. Long story short - we got to tour Dreams, told them we weren't interested, and collected our $125 worth of free coupons that we'll use to help pay for a couple of tours next week.

After we got back to Secrets, we changed into our swim suits and headed for the beach. We walked as far as we could until we came to the rocks on the end of the peninsula. Then we walked the trail to the other side of the peninsula where we saw a very tame gray pelican and several locals enjoying the beach.

We went back to our room via a lengthy stop at the beach bar where we visited with Jack and Reena from Salem, IL. After a shower, we took a nap and woke up in time for dinner at 8:00 at Bordeaux.

We enjoyed our wine with our appetizer and soup. Marsha started to take the first bite of her chicken entree when she suddenly felt ill. She left the table to go sit in the commons area and get some fresh air. After five minutes, I went to check on her and she was lying down on a sofa and said she'd be alright in a few minutes, so I went back to our table. Next thing I knew, a woman came to the table and said that my wife was on the floor!

I ran out there to find Marsha sitting on the floor next to a chair, a short distance from where I had last seen her. The three people (two Secrets staff and a guest) who were gathered around her seemed very concerned.

She had gotten up to go to the rest room, took several steps and collapsed. She felt cold and clammy, but said she was OK. So she got a free wheelchair ride back to the room and a visit from an EMT who took her blood pressure and checked her out.
She went to bed and instantly fell asleep. The concierge called to check on her about thirty minutes later.

I didn't get dessert.
