2016 Mar 07-09 - Myakka River State Park

We arrived on Monday afternoon and got set up. Although it's in walking distance, we drove down the road to the cafe to check out the WiFi. The WiFi was good, but it was so dark out that I couldn't see with the lights on! Anyway, after we called Marsha's Aunt Jo and verified when we were supposed to be at their house for Uncle Art's birthday dinner, we turned in early.
Tuesday morning, after breakfast, we went to the cafe to use the Internet to make a reservation for a Florida State Park in 2017. After that, we walked around and took some pictures of gators, & stuff. That evening, we met Jo and Art at their house for the ride to Kacey's Restaurant where we met Aunt Sheila and had a nice dinner to celebrate Art's 72nd birthday.
After that, we went back to Jo & Art's where the women went into the house to gab and Art and I went to 'his house" (the workshop) to discuss important stuff. We got back to camp and hit the sack.
Wednesday morning, Marsha and I got out of bed in time to have lunch! Then we went to the cafe to pay a bill we had received during the night. Then we walked around and found a good spot to take pictures of lots of Gators and even some snakes! No telling what tomorrow will bring. I think we'll get the bikes out and see if we remember how to ride them.

2016 Mar 04-06 - Hillsborough River SP and Reunion at Alan & Alex's House

March 4th was our first full day at Hillsborough river. Saturday, the 5th, Marsha and I made the 1 hours drive to Sam's Club in New Port Richey and bought the burgers & stuff for the reunion at Alan's house which was only 5 minutes away.
We had a great time at the reunion. Alan's sister, Anne and her son Stephen were there from New Hampshire along with Alan's son, Nicholas and his girlfriend, Laura. John and Eileen drove over from Leesburg and my brother, Scot rode his motorcycle from Barefoot Bay on the East coast. Of course, Marsha and I were there. That should be twelve people, but I don't have time to count. We're at the deli in Publix grocery store and my battery is getting low.
Enjoy the pics!

2016 Mar 02 - Hike around Hammond Lake

We stayed in the park today. We took a hike around Hammond Lake on one of the big wide trails they have here. The picture of the water lily is from Dixie Lake.
After we got back to camp, we relaxed for a while until cocktail hour rolled around. While we were enjoying our cocktails, our neighbor began to play so real good soft jazz guitar, complete with recorded accompaniment. He plays professionally, and had several gigs coming up in the area.
Tomorrow, we'll head for Hillsborough River State Park, only about 1 1/2 hours away, but I'm sure we'll stop for groceries, etc. and make a long trip out of it. See you there!

2016 Feb 29-Mar 1 - Around Lake Louisa

This is a very large park (Lake Louisa State Park) with several lakes within its boundaries. We checked out a few lakes. According to all the signs, there are supposed to be alligators here, but we have yet to find one.

I took some pics of steaks on the grill and some scenic spots, but nothing very exciting. I'll try to do better.
