2018-05-16 - 19 Gathering of Aframes at Brookville Lake, IN

Well, we had eight or ten campers signed up for the rally at Brookville Mounds Campground on Brookville Lake outside Brookville, IN, but only one other (Scott & Gayle) besides us showed up. The rest canceled for various reasons. Steve and Cheryl, who live a couple of hours away, dropped by for a visit. They knew about a restaurant called Ainsley's Cafe, so we went there for dinner on the shores of the lake. It was a rainy evening, but we had a good time.
Scott & Gayle took Marsha and me to Oxford, Ohio, the home of Miami University. We at lunch at Fiesta Charra Mexican restaurant in Campus Town and walked around exploring the shops, etc. It was the end of the spring term, so the town was bustling with students loading up for the trip home and summer break.
Other than that, the four of us just explored the dam and the rest of the area, enjoying the campfire and the lunch (and ice cream) we had at J's Place in Liberty, IN.
Not very exciting, but a relaxing time.

2018-04-22 - 28 Gathering of Aframes at Ouabache Park, Vincennes, IN

We attended the second kind-of-annual the Gathering at Ouabache Park in Vincennes, IN. It's a great little campground and Vincennes has a lot to see and do.
Of course we sat around the campfire and chewed a lot of fat. We also took a very interesting tour of the rural Amish community. This year was the second time we toured the Toyota plant in Princeton, IN. It's just an amazing place with over 2,000 robots and 8,000 people at work. They make the Highlander, Sienna, and Sequoia.
Some people went on a tour of the cathedral there and some of the ladies went to a canvas party where the host assisted them in drawing a picture of their Aliners.
We went out for pizza one night and breakfast another day, but had a great time just relaxing at the campground.

2018-04-01 - 04 Last days at Topsail Hill, then home via Lock A Campground, Cheatham Dam, Ashland City, TN

Well it sure has taken me long enough to post this last entry for our 2018 Florida Trip. As I type, I'm sitting in the laundry at Mueller State Park, Divide, CO at 9,200 ft. elevation, but that's another post.
There were some traveling artists on their way to a  show in Tampa who were camped near us at Top Sail. The driftwood lion in the pic was mounted on to of the bed of their pickup truck. Talk about getting your attention! They had some pretty cool stuff.
We drove over to Grayton Beach one evening and ate at AJ's Seafood House it was a pretty neat place with good food.
It was raining when we left Top Sail and headed north. We usually stop at Henry Horton State Park, just south of Nashville on I-65, but we were in the mood for a change so, since we were making good time, we headed for Lock A Campground on Cheatham Dam Lake outside Ashland City, TN. It was a nice change.
We took our time heading for home the next day, driving only about 25 miles of secondary roads until we go to Clarksburg, TN and hit I-24. It was a good trip other than the first night out when I jackknifed the trailer into the rear quarter panel of the truck, but that's all fixed now (we're in Colorado, remember).
I took the last four pics just a few days after we go home from "sunny Florida."

2018-03-28 - 31 Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Harbor Walk in Destin, Air Force Armament Museum

We arrived on Wednesday about 30 minutes before checkout time, but the previous occupants were still in our site. So, we had lunch at Goatfeathers Restaurant down the road from the park and by the time we got back, the site was ready for us.

After we got set up, we just walked around and explored the park a bit. This place used to be a private resort park, so it has a pool, shuffleboard, clubhouse, etc. Nice park, but almost twice as expansive as a lot of other Florida State Parks we've stated in.

Thursday, we road the bikes down to the beach, but it wasn't a very nice beach day. Shortly after we got back, the view from our picnic table changed (see pic). Luckily, they were only here for two nights, but who knows what's next!

Friday, we started out to go to the Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base, recommended by friend, Mark. We got into Destin and came upon the Harbor Walk area, one of our favorite places we went the last time we were there. So, we walked around and ate lunch at Jimmy Buffet's place. That pretty much shot the afternoon, so it was back to the campground.

Saturday, we made it to The Armament Museum. Interesting place with a lot of aircraft outside and historical displays inside. I took lots of pictures. Enjoy!
