We got up at o'dark:30 this morning to be in Mattoon at Adi's last game of the season. The game started at 9:40 and we rolled into the park at 9:40! Adi is becoming quite the soccer player. Her team scores when she's playing offense and doesn't score when she's not. The other team doesn't score when she's playing defense and scores when she's not. This is her grandfather's color commentary on the game.
After the game, we met them at the house after we picked up some hamburger for Chad to cook on the grill for lunch. Faith was working and her mom went to get her hair done, so that left us at the house with Chad, Adi, Grayson, and Gunner, Faith's nephew.
We had a good lunch and enjoyed watching the kids play for a couple of hours in the beautiful fall weather. We left and made a couple of short stops on the way home, arriving at 4:00. It was a nice day.
Well, we didn't do much except hang around the campground this time. We went to town a few times and Marsha walked with other women several times.
Today, we went to town then came back to the rally for the open house session where everyone got to look inside other people's campers. They took a group picture, but I was showing someone our "funny looking" camper, so we weren't in the shot. Only one out of the four Aliner camper people made it. No big deal.
Dennis and Suzie prepared smoked sausages and BBQ for dinner and there were about 30 side dishes to fill out the rest of the plate. Everything was delicious!
Another evening campfire and we turned in early because we're leaving in the morning. The rally was relaxing; the weather was great; the people were fantastic; and we really enjoyed ourselves. Next year's event is already on our calendar!
More of the same. I went into Dover, TN this morning and posted the last couple of days' entries on the blog while Marsha, along with several other women, took a long walk over some of the roads and trails in the park.
Back at camp, we ate lunch and headed over to Dennis' Camping Tips seminar. I think we all learned at least one new tip that will make our camping trips more enjoyable and/or organized.
At 4:30, we all headed in to the edge of Dover for dinner at Cindy's Catfish Kitchen. Nice little place that had more than enough room to accommodate our group of around sixty people, as well as their normal clientele. The catfish was very good and the salad bar and buffet was plentiful. That, along with a drink and desert, made it a good bargain for the sum of $9.00 per person.
After dinner, it was back to camp for an evening around the fire and visiting with someone new.
After breakfast, Marsha and I took a walk and explored the campground, stopping along the way to visit with new rally arrivals and others who were enjoying the fantastic fall weather. By the end of the day, there were 32 camping units in attendance at our rally with more scheduled to arrive tomorrow. There were four Aliners and 28 Scamps and Casitas.
Dennis and Suzie hosted a clam chowder dinner for all attendees followed by the traditional gathering around the campfire. We visited with many people whom we hadn't met in the past. There are people here from Florida, up-state New York, and many places in between.
Marsha and I left the campfire about 9:45 and headed for the shower and a great night's sleep.
We left home this morning at 7:30 and arrived at Piney Campground at 2:00. Not bad for what Google Maps said was a six-hour drive, and we stopped three times. Anyway, we arrived to find eight egg-shaped campers (Scamps and Casitas) and one other Aliner (Paul Chapin) from our Illinois group.
We got set up and roasted some brats at our campsite before going to Dennis Archer's site to join others around the campfire. The rally doesn't officially start until tomorrow (Thursday), so stay tuned for more activities and pictures.
He won't be two until October 5th, but our grandson, Grayson's, party was today. It was a small affair with mostly family and just a few of the kids' friends. Grayson wasn't impressed with the underwear, T-shirt and book that we got him, but he liked the drum set from mom and dad.
