Today, we stopped at Lake Naivasha, the highest lake in the Rift Valley. There, we took a one-hour boat ride to see hippos and birds. While walking from our van to the lake, we walked among the Maasai Giraffes who freely roam the area.
After viewing the hippos, we ate our box lunches at a roadside gift shop, then we did a game drive on the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
After checking in at the Sarova Mara Camp, we signed up for the next morning's hot air balloon flight. We have to leave the camp at 5:00 in the morning, so we're hitting the sack.
When we got up in Sweetwaters Tented Camp, the clouds had lifted and Mt. Kenya was visible. Our final destination was the Lion Hill Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park, but we made some stops along the way.
The first stop was at a shop on the equator where we saw a demonstration of how water drains clockwise in the northern hemisphere and counter-clockwise in the southern hemisphere. Twenty meters to the north of the equator, water flowing down a drain will spin clockwise. Twenty meters south of the equator, it spins counter clockwise. On the equator, it doesn't spin at all!
Then it was on for a quick stop at Thompson Falls where we took some photos and continued our journey. When we arrived at Lion Hill Lodge, we had lunch, then went on an afternoon game drive. After that, there was entertainment by some Samburu (tribe) dancers.
