2012 - Aug 31-Sept 5 Visiting with Jim & Sandy in Girard, PA

We left home at 7:30am on 8/31 and were at Jim & Sandy's house 609 miles and ten and a half hours later. We visited a lot while we were here.

We stopped by the antique shop in Fairview which was the house where my dad was born and his mother died.

Went to visit my cousin, Ron and his wife, Kathy, as well as another cousin, Charles, and his wife Kathy. Ron & Kathy can bee seen below, but I forgot to take a picture of Charles and Jackie. I looked Charles up and tried to call him, but the phone number was old. So I just went and knocked on his door. Can't imagine his not recognizing me. We just saw each other about 40 years ago, but no contact since then.

We're leaving Girard tomorrow on the way to Gansevoort, NY for the Northeast Region AOC Rally, but we'll stop overnight on the way to make it an easy trip. See you there, or maybe somewhere along the way.

2012 - Aug. 25 Adi's soccer game; Coles County Air Show

We got up at o'dark:30 to be in Mattoon by 8:30 for Adi's first soccer game of the season. I was a beautiful morning for a soccer game. As usual, Adi played well and her team squeaked by with a one-point win. After the game, we all went to the Downtown Diner for breakfast.

We didn't know it until we got to Mattoon, but the Coles County Air Show was being held that day, so after breakfast we headed for the airport to check it out. Marsha and I stayed for just a couple of hours, but managed to see some neat aircraft while we were there.

Enjoy the photos.

2012 - Aug. 8 Aliner Rally in Shipshewana, IN

We arrived at the campground at 4:32pm on Wednesday. I know because one of the members texted me when we were on our way and I told her we'd be there at 4:30. I was late! The weather was great when we arrived, but that didn't last long. It started raining late that night and didn't stop until Friday night.

There was a good turnout - about 44 camping units in all. Marsha went shopping in Shipshewana with Marilyn and bought some shoes. I went too a couple of the many RV salvage places in the area (it's only 20 miles to Elkhart) and bought a couple of things for the camper - foot pads for the bottom of the stabilizer jacks and some weather stripping for the door. Whoopee!

Anyway, the pictures kind of tell the story, so I'll let them.
